Inspiration Board for the One Love Collection in my design studio in SoCal

You know the phrase: to love one is to let them go. That's also an easy way of describing our creative process for making the One Love collection, where the final designs are left up to the forces that be. Who loves a mystery? I do! Is it a lesson in celebrating the beauty of imperfection? You betcha. To surrender to the process, the art, is to love what you do. Here we go, my loves: Happy Valentine’s Day! Be the best (im)perfect self you can be. To do that, we surrender. Don’t worry, it doesn’t hurt! It's fun!

It’s all in the hands! We have to gather the silk into the form of a heart. The little creases done just so form the heart shape. The part that I like best is that it takes 2 people to make each fabric. You can't make one alone – buddy system!

The hearts wrapped up are hung to dry. Then, as with all relationships, we wait... and wait some more…We hurry up and wait…then finally we get to see what happened!

No two hearts ever come out the same, but each is beautiful - guaranteed. Not to be corny, but it's kind of like me & you! Each is different, yet perfectly imperfect and beautiful in our own way…The holiday makes me sappy - sorrycakes!

The heart shape is a universal symbol, communicating love across multiple cultures. The heart echoes positivity, empathy, compassion and love – I chose it to be “conversational” on purpose. Normally, I do not like layering symbols into my designs - this is the first time.  After years of practicing textiles and communicating with color and design, it is the first time I have layered in a symbol.

We celebrate the beauty of imperfection daily. Join the movement.  We’d love for you to join our tribe.
